William (Bill) Edward Brunson
William (Bill) Edward Brunson, age 83, died on Friday, May 24, 2019 at his home in Oologah, Okla., surrounded by family. He was born June 5, 1935 in Muskogee, Okla.to Aaron Kenneth (Tobe) and Minnie (Duncan) Brunson, the fourth of six children.
Bill was an avid, master craftsmen, spending many years in construction and cabinet making, as well as building and working on cars. His fascination with machinery started early. At ten year’s of age, he removed the motor from his mother’s washing machine and figured out how to install it on his bicycle. He also enjoyed sports. He played basketball, baseball and softball. He also enjoyed coaching/ watching his children and grandchildren play. He was a fixture at Oologah high school football and basketball games for many years, as well as the high school state basketball championships in Oklahoma City. Most mornings he could be found at Daylight Donuts, having breakfast and talking and joking with friends. He was known for his charm and easy smile.
He is survived by wife, Peggy Brunson, of the home, daughter, Norma Cushman, sons, Richard Brunson and husband Rick Broyles, Neal Brunson and husband Steve Foutch, Keith Brunson and girlfriend Kristi Terhune, Brook Brunson and wife Brooke Brunson, brother Ray Brunson, sisters, Betty Eddy, Patsy Adams and husband John Adams. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Tobe and Minnie Brunson, brother Leonard Brunson, sister Dorothy (Bobby) Hendershott and grandson Brandon Brunson.
The Brunson family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Grace Hospice and Delozier Funeral Services for their loving care and attentiveness. A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at the Oologah High School Auditorium. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bill’s name, can be made to the Oologah High School basketball booster “Tip-In Club”, or the soccer booster “Hat Trick Club”.
