Ruth Vivian Boyd
Ruth Vivian Boyd of Oologah, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019 in Claremore. She was 98. Ruth was born on January 16, 1921 in Orlando, OK to Walter Fred Plumer and the former Lottie E. Smith.
Visitation for Ruth will be Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 – 7:00 at Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
Funeral Services were 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Zion Hill Church, 11501 S 4060 Rd, in Oologah. Interment will follow at Wann Cemetery.
Ruth married James Harold Boyd on May 6, 1937, and together they raised 6 children. She has lived in Oologah since 1950 having moved from Sulpher Springs, AR. Ruth was a member of Zion Hill Church, which was an important part of her life. She was an avid quilter and made beautiful quilts by hand. She also enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family.
Ruth is survived by her children, Robert Leon Boyd, Edward Earl Boyd and wife Marquita, Freddie Raymond Boyd and wife Ann, and Ruth Harolene Fryer and husband Robert; her sisters, Edith Hartman, Rebecca Barrett, and Donna Wofford; 15 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 2 sons, James Ray Boyd and Daniel Lee Boyd; and her brothers, Willard Plumer, Fred Plumer, and George Plumer.
