Juanita passed away on Monday, November 18, 2019 in Tulsa, surrounded by her family. She was 100. The family has entrusted DeLozier Funeral Service, Chelsea with Juanita’s care.

Born in Olive, OK on November 5, 2019 to Lee and Johnnie Mae (Campbell) Marrs, Juanita had special memories of her childhood and swimming in the creek that ran through their farm. She always tried to be the first off the school bus and would run to her house to read the funnies in the newspaper. Following high school graduation from Chandler, Juanita attended OSU for one year, before receiving her business degree from Bristow Junior College.

On September 14, 1940, in the minister’s home, Juanita married the love of her life, Bill Mitacek. Their union was gifted with two children, Janice and Mike. Bill was a chemical engineer at Phillips and Juanita enjoyed being a part of the Phillip’s family; where she made many lifelong friends.

A very classy lady, Juanita had a wide variety of interests and hobbies. She was an accomplished artist and a member of the art association in Bartlesville; where she won numerous awards for her work. She was an excellent cook and loved knitting and sewing for her family. Juanita perhaps found the simple things in life the most pleasurable. She appreciated fall for the beautiful colors and spring when the flowers were blooming. Her favorite meal was chicken, biscuits, gravy and chocolate pie. Travel was another pleasure and the many trips to California to see her son were always cherished.

But no story about Juanita would be complete unless you talk about her love of family. She excelled at being a wife and mother and the times her family could all be together were special. In later life when grandchildren came along, “Nini” might have become her favorite word.  She looked forward to New Year’s Eve each year when all the grandchildren would come over and do crafts. Throughout her life she was constantly a caregiver and adored caring for all those special people in her life. A woman gifted with wisdom, Juanita would be the first to tell you to get an education, enjoy life because it goes by so fast and be nice!

This mother, Nini, aunt and friend will be missed by all the lives she touched. Juanita is survived by her children, Mike Mitacek and wife Lyn, and Janice Wallis and husband Ron, grandchildren, Clint Wallis and wife Kaisa, Emily Bezdek and husband Jeremy, Libby Lalli, Scottie Wallis and wife Reynolds, great grandchildren, Cam, Ian, Thatcher, Elle, Jackson, Emma, Sam, Gracie, Noah, Corbin, Gianna, and sister in law, Jacque Marrs, niece, Annette Morrison, and nephew, Craig Marrs. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Johnnie Marrs, husband of 49 years, Bill, sister, Leota “Odie” Parsons and husband, R.C., and brother, Frank Marrs.
