First Baptist Church of Talala schedules annual firework display
Rogers County residents can look forward to celebrating Independence Day in Talala next weekend at the First Baptist Church of Talala.
Hosted by First Baptist Church of Talala, the annual firework display is a family-friendly free event which is open to the public, slated for the evening of Sunday, June 28.
“Normally, we would be serving homemade ice cream and desserts, but that’s something we won’t be doing this year, due to the coronavirus,” said Lester Orwig, church senior pastor. “Instead, we encourage people to bring their own snacks out, or even bring a picnic basket and enjoy the evening.”
As in years past, the evening will include the national anthem, a flag salute, and a firework display set to patriotic music to begin around dusk.
Orwig further encouraged those planning to attend to bring blankets, lawn or other chairs for comfort, and to set them up in the church’s parking lot starting at 8 p.m.
As this is a family-friendly event, alcoholic beverages are not allowed.
