JOKE OF THE WEEK

A couple are rushing into the hospital because the wife is going into labor. As they walk, a doctor says to them that he has invented a machine that splits the pain between the mother and father. They agree to it and are led into a room where they get hooked up to the machine. The doctor starts it off at 20% split towards the father. The wife says, “Oh, that’s actually better.” The husband says he can’t feel anything. Then the doctor turns it to 50% and the wife says that it doesn’t hurt nearly as much. The husband says he sill can’t feel anything. The Doctor, now encouraged, turns it up to 100%. The husband still can’t feel anything, and the wife is really happy, because there is now no pain for her. The baby is born. The couple go home and find the postman groaning in pain on the doorstep.

Standing During The Coronavirus Storm

There is a parable in Matthew 7 about two houses, one is built on a rock and another was built on sand. This is a great lesson for us today as we approach Easter for the 1st time in our generation to be isolated from our church family. The coronavirus has put us in a very uncomfortable place in our lives. It will determine where we have built our house. Have we built our homes on the rock or the sand? Jesus said “Whoever hears these words of Mine and does them, will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain came down. The water came up. The wind blew and hit the house. The house did not fall because it was built on rock. Whoever hears and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down. The water came up. The wind blew and hit the house. The house fell and broke apart.” One house stood while the other fell. The Coronavirus storms has come to everyone, no matter how old, young, spiritual, or carnal. We all face this storm together and we must stand on Jesus for he is our rock. Jesus has told us these things, so that in Him we may have peace. In this world we will have trouble. But take heart! Jesus has overcome this storm. This Easter, let’s all stand in one acord as they did in the early church. We stand united under Father God, the SON and the Holy Spirit. As Americans, This is our ROCK.

A New Beginning

The centrality of the resurrection of Jesus focuses on new life, new beginnings and new hope. Certainly, in the midst of all that is happening in the world today, we could use all of the above. The good news of the gospel teaches us that God wants to give us all this and more!

Still Waters

Several months ago, the Lord led me to start working on a preaching series for Harbor Church focusing on Psalm 23. I had no idea how applicable this series would be for this time. It’s amazingly comforting to any child of the King.
