Salvation Army bell ringers at Apple Market
Local volunteers will be ringing the Salvation Army Red Kettle in front of Apple Market beginning Monday Nov. 30.
According to program coordinator John York, 100 percent of the donations stay in the community to support our Oologah-Talala Backpack/Food4Kids operation.
“Every Friday we stuff kids backpacks with nutritious foods to ensure that they do not go hungry over the weekend," York said. "These are children who eat breakfast and lunch at the school but are at risk of going hungry on weekends. The need has never been greater, we have more hungry kids than ever before. We are currently feeding approximately 100 kids in the elementary schools."
Bell ringing will be 4-6 p.m. through Saturday of this week and again next week, Monday through Saturday.
Also, miniature kettles set up at Rogers Mini Market, Talala Grocery and Mid America Farm and Ranch.
