Early morning hangar fire claims airplane in Rogers County

The cause of a fire that destroyed an airplane in a hangar south of Oologah early Wednesday morning remains under investigation.

  According to Northwest Fire Department crews, the owners of the hanger in Avian County Estates off old Highway 88 were alerted to the fire around 1 a.m. by an alarm. Upon arrival, firefighters found flames coming out of the roof of the hangar. 

  Claremore, Limestone, Foyil, and Collinsville Rural fire departments also were called to assist Northwest Rogers County Fire Protection District in combating the fire.

  No injuries were reported from the fire, but the hanger suffered "significant damage." A tractor, a motorcycle and boat also were reported as parked inside the hanger at the time of the fire.
